Washington University of Science and Technology (WUST) played an academic role in the 3rd International Conference on Computing and Machine Learning (CML 2026), held at Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology on March 7–8, 2026.

Prof. Touhid Bhuiyan of WUST participated as a featured speaker and delivered a presentation titled “Big Data Analytics and Intelligent Security Systems: Transforming Cyber Defense in the Era of Scalable Computing.” His address examined how advanced analytics and intelligent technologies can strengthen cybersecurity as computing environments become larger and more complex.

The conference was organized by the Department of Computer Applications at Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology with technical and financial support from the Soft Computing Research Society. The hybrid event combined an in-person first day with online keynote, invited, and technical sessions conducted through Google Meet and Zoom.

Featured academic speakers included Prof. Suresh Sundaram of IIT Guwahati, Prof. Swagatam Das of the Indian Statistical Institute in Kolkata, and Prof. Touhid Bhuiyan of WUST. Prof. Mahesh Chandra Govil, Director of NIT Sikkim, participated as Chief Guest.

CML 2026 received 1,579 research submissions from 15 countries. Conference organizers reported that approximately 213 papers were accepted, representing an acceptance rate of about 14 percent. The selected research was presented across sessions covering machine learning, artificial intelligence, computer vision, network security, healthcare analytics, blockchain, cloud systems, natural language processing, smart-city technologies, and explainable AI.

Through Prof. Bhuiyan’s participation, WUST contributed to international discussions on the relationship between artificial intelligence, scalable computing, big-data analysis, and digital security.

The International Conference on Computing and Machine Learning promotes the presentation and exchange of research in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics, network security, computer vision, and intelligent computing. The CML 2026 proceedings are planned for publication in Springer’s Lecture Notes in Networks and Systems series.
